Debabani Choudhury joined Intel Labs in 2006. She provides strategic research directions and leads research and development of RF/millimeter-wave technologies for next generation wireless platforms and connected vehicle integration.
In his role as Distinguished Member of Technology at Bell Canada, Javan Erfanian is responsible for the end to end wireless technology strategic direction and industry initiatives.

Vincent W. S. Chan, the Joan and Irwin Jacobs Chair Professor of EECS, MIT, received his BS(71), MS(71), EE(72), and Ph.D.(74) degrees in EE all from MIT. From 1974 to 1977, he was an assistant professor, EE, at Cornell University.
As Senior Director of System Design and Product Management, Dr. Georg Mohs is responsible for the engineering solutions of TE SubCom’s transoceanic telecommunications cable systems.

1:15 – Internet of Things (IoT)/Fog Computing and Networking:
Exploring the technologies that are being created to enable the cooperation and integration of computing and networking elements that result from the proliferation of pervasive computing and networking-capable devices in application areas such as agriculture, manufacturing, and transportation and logistics.
Tao Zhang is an IEEE Fellow, Distinguished Engineer / Senior Director, Corporate Strategy Group, Cisco Systems. He joined Cisco in 2012 as Chief Scientist for Cisco’s Smart Connected Vehicles business.
Dr. Michaela Iorga serves as senior security technical lead for cloud computing with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Computer Security division.

3:00 – Cybersecurity:
The creation and use of a set of technologies, processes and practices designed to protect networks, computers, programs and data from attack, damage or unauthorized access. These talks will explore technologies being used to both aide in the creation of attacks against networks and aide in the defense against these attacks
Nir Kshetri is Professor at University of North Carolina-Greensboro and a research fellow at Kobe University. He has authored seven books, one of which has been selected as an Outstanding Academic Title by Choice Magazine and has published over 110 articles in various journals.
Featured Speaker: David Freeman, Research Scientist/Engineer at Facebook
David Freeman is a research scientist/engineer at Facebook working on spam and
abuse problems. He previously led anti-abuse engineering and data science teams
at LinkedIn, where he developed statistical models to detect fraud and abuse and
built scalable modeling and scoring infrastructure. He is an author, presenter,
and organizer at international conferences on machine learning and security,
such as NDSS, WWW and AISec, and is currently writing (with Clarence Chio) a
book on Machine Learning and Security to be published by O’Reilly. He holds a
Ph.D. in mathematics from UC Berkeley and did postdoctoral research in
cryptography and security at CWI and Stanford University.
4:30 – Panel Discussion – Communications Futures: Hype or Reality?
The summit’s topical sessions address how 5G, Optical, IoT/Fog, and Cybersecurity are the foundation for communications and networking through the near- to mid-future. While each session will focus on each of these currently hot technologies, this closing panel of distinguished experts aims to informally discuss if and how the technologies relate to each other and their role in enabling the ecosystem of Communications Futures. With audience interaction, the panel will touch on the opportunities and challenges in realizing each of the technologies as part of such an ecosystem, in other words, how much of what we’re hearing is likely to happen in the near- to mid-future (“hype or reality”).
Dr. Robert S. Fish is a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science at Princeton University. He is also President-elect of the IEEE Standards Association, a member of the Board of Governors of the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), and President of NETovations, LLC, a consulting company focused on the creation of communications and networking technology innovation. From 2007 to 2010, he was Chief Product Officer and Senior VP at Mformation, Inc. a company specializing in carrier software for mobile device management. From 1997 to 2007, Rob was Vice President and Managing Director of Panasonic US R&D laboratories working on embedding networking into consumer devices. Prior to this, he was Executive Director, Multimedia Communications Research at Bellcore/Telcordia after starting his career at Bell Laboratories. Besides his many publications, Dr. Fish has been awarded 17 patents. He received his Ph.D. from Stanford University.
Dr. Fish is Steering Committee chair and Co-founder of ComSoc’s Consumer Communications and Networking Conference. He is the former chair of ComSoc’s GLOBECOM and ICC Management and Strategy Committee. For his leadership and contributions to the Multimedia Communications Technical Committee, Dr. Fish was the recipient of ComSoc’s MMTC Distinguished Service Award.
Rob has also been Chair of IEEE-SA’s Global Committee, and was a founding member of the IEEE-SA Corporate Advisory Group. He co-edited a series in IEEE Communications Magazine on IEEE standards in communications and networking. During his career, Dr. Fish and his organizations have initiated and managed standards development activities in IEEE, ISO/IEC JTC1, 3GPP, OMA, IETF, ATSC, CableLabs, OSGi, and probably a few others. In 2016, for his leadership in standards activities, Dr. Fish was awarded the Standards Medallion of the IEEE Standards Association.
